About the museum
The Feuerwehrmuseum Kreuzlingen opened in 1956. According to the Verband der Museen der Schweiz (Swiss Museums Association), it is located in the town hall on Löwenstrasse.
The exhibition traces the development of firefighting through portable and wheeled hand and motor pumps from the 19th and 20th centuries. Also on display are firefighter helmets from around the world, axes, nozzles, lamps, ladders and fire extinguishing bombs. Pictures, documents and newspapers of the Swiss Firefighters’ Association, as well as further firefighting equipment, round off the collection.
The museum is open only on certain dates: from May to October, on the first Sunday of the month in the afternoon. Groups can also arrange visits by appointment.
