About the museum

Mili Weber was born in 1891 in Biel and began early on to draw and paint the stories she heard and read. Her house on Via Dimlej, at the edge of the forest above the eastern end of Lake St. Moritz, was built in 1917 to plans by her brother Emil Weber, a master builder; it is a log house on a stone foundation modeled on Valais houses. For sixty years the artist lived and worked there, turning the house into a total work of art.

During her lifetime she established a foundation to run the house as a museum and make her work known. The museum opened in 1979. It presents her extensive life's work, with illustrated stories, paintings, sketches and studies.

The house can be visited only on an approximately 70-minute guided tour in small groups. On request, thematic tours are available, for example on the flower motifs in her work, on the Castle Room as an expression of Mili Weber's philosophy of life, on the Art Nouveau artist Anna Haller, or on the Bear Room, as well as special tours for children.
