About the museum
The MoMö opened in 2018 at the headquarters of the Möhl juice-pressing company in Stachen near Arbon and is considered the first Swiss juice-pressing and distilling museum. It tells the story of the Möhl family: Hans-Georg and Elise Möhl founded a farm juice-pressing business in 1895, which is still run as a family business in its fifth generation today, producing apple juices, apple wines and cider.
The exhibition is interactive and designed for independent visits. It leads through the “Mostfabrik” (juice factory) and, at a process wall, shows how the pressing of apples and pears has developed from earlier centuries to modern methods, and how fruit spirits and distillates are made. In the wooden cask storage cellar stand the largest oval wooden casks in Switzerland.
Outside the building, an orchard with a wild bee paradise, life towers and a wild bee educational trail are part of the offer. In addition, there are juice-pressing tours through production with tasting, cider and spirits tastings, a children’s program, and a bar with a juice shop. Fruit processing takes place mainly in September and October.
