About the museum
The museum is housed in a German bunker on the sea wall of St Ouen’s Bay, next to Lewis’s Tower. The bunker was part of the Atlantic Wall defences built during the Occupation of the Channel Islands from 1940 to 1945.
Inside, several rooms show hundreds of military and civilian objects that tell the story of the five years of German occupation. The displays include German uniforms, weapons, documents and photographs, together with a large collection of everyday items from the time, and a commentary of about 40 minutes recalls the experiences of local people during the Occupation.
