About the museum
The Haubis bakery goes back to a business that Anton and Katharina Haubenberger founded in Petzenkirchen in 1902 as an inn with a bakery and farm. Over several generations it grew into one of Austria's large bakery producers, which is still family-run today and produces at its original site in the Mostviertel.
In 2008 the company opened the bread discovery world Haubiversum to visitors at its production site. In December 2018 a redesigned visitor walkway was added, which uses staged displays on flour, salt, water and yeast to introduce the basic ingredients of bread and then opens up a view into the running production.
The tour begins with a brief look at the company history and a film in the in-house cinema. In the "Golden Bakery" guests shape their own pastry, which is baked during the tour. Then you follow the dough pieces from the proofing cabinet through the freezer to the oven and finish by tasting bread, pastries and sweet dishes.
Around the discovery world there is a café, a bakery shop, the children's bakery "Hamsterhausen" with baking programmes for children, and play areas indoors and outdoors. The venue lies directly on the Erlauftal cycle route.
