About the museum
The local history museum of the market municipality is housed in the town hall on the Rathausplatz. It tells the eventful history of Persenbeug-Gottsdorf, which was shaped by the Danube and the House of Habsburg-Lothringen. A special focus is Persenbeug Castle, the birthplace of the last Austrian emperor, Charles I.
Also on display are original stone finds from the Danube, remains of the former cable ferry and numerous documents on the life of the boatmaster Matthias Feldmüller, who became known as the "Admiral of the Danube".
