About the museum
The Old Tower was built between 1483 and 1487 as part of the fortifications of the market town of Haslach and remains the town's landmark to this day. It was damaged in the town fire of 1910, but survived and was put to new use.
The tower has housed the Heimathaus since 1927. The collection documents life in the old market town in earlier times: household goods and agricultural tools, tools of various crafts, geological finds, reverse glass paintings from different workshops, and objects of folk culture.
Particularly vivid is a detailed model showing Haslach around 1800. The museum is run by the association Kultur in der Fabrik and belongs to the Association of Upper Austrian Museums. Because of renovation work, it will remain closed in 2026, with reopening planned for May 2027.
