Limited operations (expected until 2027). Because of renovation work since November 2025, the ground floor is closed until 2027. Open are the row of shops on the first floor, the toy exhibition and industrial history on the second floor, and the fire brigade museum.

About the museum

The Museum Traiskirchen has existed since 1988 in the buildings of the former Möllersdorf worsted spinning mill. In 1824, Traiskirchen's first industrial plant was founded on this site as a cotton spinning mill; later Vöslauer Kammgarn AG switched to sheep's wool, and the works was among the largest worsted spinning mills in Europe. After it was shut down in the mid-1970s, the site briefly served as a tyre warehouse until the municipality acquired it in 1987 at the instigation of the museum's founder Franz Schlögl.

Today the museum displays over 50,000 objects across several floors. Its centrepiece is the row of shops on the first floor with original shops and workshops such as a pharmacy, a grocer (Greißler), a tobacconist (Trafik), a butcher's, a tailor's and a bakery, plus a workers' flat from around 1930. On the second floor there is a toy display with Matador and Anker building sets and rooms on industrial history, and in an adjoining hall there has been a fire brigade museum since 2000. The ground floor is devoted to the themes of transport, mobility and technology, for example with a steam engine from 1911; in the outdoor grounds there are a water wheel, a carriage of the Badner Bahn and a sawmill frame saw.

The building has been undergoing renovation since November 2025. The ground floor remains closed until 2027 and is then to house an exhibition on the town's history; the rest of the museum remains accessible.
