About the museum
The museum preserves the workshop of the violin maker Franjo Schneider, known for the device he built to measure the elasticity of resonance plates, in versions for the violin, viola and cello. In 1983 his daughter Erna Schneider Nikolić donated the collection to the City of Zagreb; since 1996 it has been managed by the Glazbena škola Pavla Markovca. It is estimated that Schneider made about 60 violins and fewer than 10 violas. Classes in instrument making and restoration, led by master Darko Stipešević, are still held in the space.
