About the museum
The foundation of the collection is the private collection of the Sajko family, which the collector Živko Sajko and his son Željko gathered over almost half a century. It is among the most diverse collections in Sisak-Moslavina County and is entered in the Registar kulturnih dobara Republike Hrvatske (Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia).
The Town of Novska bought the collection, and it is housed in the building of the Pučko otvoreno učilište (Public Open Learning Centre), in the former premises of the music school. The space was completely renovated in 2018, and the museum was ceremonially opened on 27 September 2019. The objects for the permanent display were selected, and the display arranged, by Dražen Kušen, an archivist at the Državni arhiv u Osijeku (State Archives in Osijek).
