About the museum
The museum grew out of a private collection that Mario Tušek had been gathering since 2012, and in 2016 it began operating as a museum, first in the old town hall (Varoška kuća) in Pakrac. In autumn 2020 it moved to the former courthouse building on the other side of the square, where the display is on the upper floor; the ground floor is planned for a library and reading room, a shop, a classroom and a storeroom.
The display is chronological and thematic. It begins with the Roman legions, the medieval Templars, the Ottoman conquests, the Zrinski and Frankopan families and the hajduks and pandurs of Baron Trenck, and continues with the First and Second World Wars, the period up to 1991 and the Homeland War, which is the central theme. Combat, work and ceremonial uniforms, weapons, explosives, flags, photographs, posters and films about the war are on display, and two military vehicles stand in front of the building. A special space is devoted to HTV cameraman Gordan Lederer, who was killed in 1991.
The museum has no regular opening hours; it opens by appointment.
