About the museum
The Monastery of St Nicholas in Trogir was founded in 1064 for noblewomen and is the only women's monastery in Trogir that still operates today. The church was built on the foundations of an older church and on the walls and gates of the ancient town.
The monastery houses the Kairos art collection. Its most important work is a relief of the young god Kairos, god of the fortunate moment, found in the attic of a house of the noble Statilić family. The relief shows the god holding a pair of scales in his hand and is considered one of the closest reflections of the bronze statue by Lysippos. According to legend, one must seize Kairos by the tuft of hair on his forehead, because he passes quickly; Kairos is today one of the symbols of Trogir.
