About the museum
The log-built two-storey parsonage in Dolní Krupá was built in 1785 after the restoration of the local parish. It is a unique monument of rural Baroque architecture, combining traditional building methods with stylistic features. Soon after construction the log walls were limewashed, in accordance with the customs of the time; this finish was removed only in the second half of the 20th century, when the timber structures were painted dark and the joints were emphasised with lime.
The parsonage served the priests of Krupá continuously from its foundation until 1946, when the last parish priest of Dolní Krupá had to leave during the expulsion of residents of German origin. The building then served as a harvest-time shelter for children of members of the collective farm (JZD), and from 1974 to 2012 the Litoměřice diocese rented it for recreation.
In 2012 the Central Bohemian Region bought the parsonage complex and entrusted it to the Muzeum Mladoboleslavska, which is carrying out a gradual reconstruction. In summer the parsonage is accessible; visitors can see the preserved interiors, including the housekeeper’s flat, the black kitchen, the priest’s flat and a representative room with stucco decoration, as well as the exhibition Zaniklé obce kolem Ralska (Lost Villages around Ralsko).
