About the museum
The Jiráskovo muzeum has been located on the second floor of the theatre façade in Hronov since 1908. In the 1980s it was incorporated into the District Museum in Náchod, today's Muzeum Náchodska, but the exhibition was kept and only partly renovated in 2002.
The exhibition is devoted to the personality and work of Alois Jirásek and places great emphasis on authentic models for his literary characters, for example Josef Regner and Antonín Knahl. It also commemorates other notable personalities of Hronov, among them Josef Čapek, Egon Hostovský and Jindřich Freiwald.
In December 2024 a new interactive exhibition about theatre, inspired by Jirásek's play Pan Johanes, was created in the museum for families with children. Visitors can try out theatre professions and creative play. The museum is now closed for technical reasons.
