About the museum
The infantry blockhouse K-S 8 “U nádraží” was built as part of the Czechoslovak border fortifications around Králíky. Construction began in 1936; concreting took place from 29 September to 5 October 1936, using 1,580 m³ of concrete; the garrison was to consist of 34 men. During the September mobilisation of 1938 the object was fully ready for combat. In autumn 1940 it became the target of extensive test shelling by the German army, which left traces on all its parts. In the 1950s the second armoured cupola was removed by the national enterprise Kovošrot.
The object is now looked after by the Military History Club Vlašim, which made it accessible again about ten years ago and set up a museum in it. Since then hundreds of new exhibits have been added, the object has been connected to the electricity network, and questions of land with the town of Králíky have been resolved. In 2025 the club built a gazebo at the entrance where visitors can shelter from bad weather.
In the blockhouse you will find a small exhibition on Czechoslovak fortifications and the army in 1938, an exhibition on the Nazi underground factory Richard and the Litoměřice concentration camp, a memorial to the battle of the Dukla Pass, and extensive collections of protective masks and clothing and of disarmed ammunition. Some parts, such as the right firing room and the engine room, have been reconstructed to their original form; however, the described traces of German test shelling have been preserved both inside and outside.
