About the museum
The museum grew out of the enthusiasm of members of the company Armyfort, who from the early 1990s collected military equipment and weapons and displayed them at the Bouda artillery fortress. In 1998 they accepted the offer of the town of Králíky to move the collection closer to tourists, and later the museum found a home in the grounds of a former cattle-rearing facility near Prostřední Lipka, which lies right next to the fortification line.
In 2000–2009 the buildings were provisionally adapted, and the museum attracted up to 15,000 visitors a year. With support from the Pardubice Region, the town of Králíky and a grant from European Union funds, the site was completely rebuilt in 2009–2010, and on 1 July 2010 the new museum opened with a basic installation of exhibitions, which continue to be expanded.
The museum is owned by the town of Králíky and operated by the company ARMY FORT s.r.o. The exhibition hall presents the history of the Czechoslovak army from the legionnaires to the present, the Second World War, and collections of ammunition, weapons, field and anti-aircraft guns and chemical protection equipment. A separate exhibition commemorates the army general Ludvík Krejčí and his closest collaborators. Behind the hall lies a demonstration area with an off-road track for showing vehicles in motion, and a replica of a military hut from the First Republic.
