About the museum

The MO-S 21 U Jaroše infantry bunker is a separate two-story, two-sided bunker of the third resistance class, concreted in the second half of September 1936. It had a crew of 36 men, and its main armament was a model 36 cannon coupled with a heavy machine gun, plus a pair of heavy machine guns. During the occupation the Czechoslovak crew damaged the bunker and handed it over to the German army in that state; the damage included the well, which was blown up and covered with an asphalt mixture.

In 2005 a group of enthusiasts settled here with the aim of building a fortress complex for museum and military-cultural activities. Restoration of the bunker has been underway since 2006 and is returning it to its 1938 state. Today the bunker is run as a private museum by the Asociace přátel Československého opevnění Opavska a Hlučínska (Association of Friends of the Czechoslovak Fortifications of Opava and Hlučín), which holds an all-day event, Opevněná hranice (Fortified Border), once a year.
