About the museum
The museum is housed in a small chateau in the village of Příseka, whose history goes back to a fortified manor mentioned already in the Middle Ages. In the 13th century the village belonged to the Olomouc bishopric, and from 1327 to the Lords of Lipé. Later it was held by the Beránkové of Petrov and from 1579 by Hynek Brtnický; after 1627 it passed under the neighbouring town of Brtnice and became part of the estate of the Collalto family. At the end of the 18th century a school was set up in the small chateau.
Under the land reform the former manorial estate was acquired by a private owner in 1926, and in the 1950s the buildings were taken over by an agricultural cooperative, which led to gradual dilapidation. In 1955 a storm tore off the original roof of the turret, and there was even a threat that monument protection would be withdrawn. However, the building survived and later underwent a complete reconstruction, which restored its appearance from before 1955.
In the renovated chateau, the company Abrex, a maker of collectible metal model cars, opened the toy car museum. Across four floors it presents an almost complete collection of Czechoslovak toys from the 20th century, supplemented by foreign models. The complex includes a café in a converted barn and the chateau garden.
