About the museum
The first attempts to establish a museum in Luka nad Jihlavou appeared at the beginning of the German occupation, but a successful founding came only in 2004. In 1999 a new form for the museum began to be considered; in 2000 the house on Školní Street was purchased, its reconstruction began in 2001 and was completed at the end of 2003. In May 2004 members of the Club of Friends of Luka nad Jihlavou prepared the premises and installed the first collections; the museum was founded on 2 July 2004.
The museum is housed in the U Holubů house, no. 20, on Školní Street below the church. The exhibition presents traditional crafts, household and farm life, supplemented by documents and photographs from the history of the market town and its surroundings. It includes the workshop of a village shoemaker, a station dispatcher's office from the 1950s, and a kitchen with a tiled stove.
