About the museum

The Muzeum lidových pálenic (Museum of Folk Distilleries) in Vlčnov was opened in 2010 by the Slovácké muzeum in Uherské Hradiště and is the only institution of its kind in the Czech Republic. It is devoted to the tradition of home fruit distilling in south-eastern Moravia and shows how distilleries and stills were used in the villages of Slovácko.

The collection contains dozens of complete stills and their parts, as well as vessels, labels and documents. Some of the stills were received as gifts or were found, while others were confiscated by the police. In 2010 the museum received the Gloria musaealis award in the category Muzejní počin roku (Museum Achievement of the Year).

The tour is supplemented by a short film. The exhibition texts are in Czech; printed materials are also available in English and German.
