About the museum

The museum is housed in the Knížecí dům (Princely House), no. 150, on the corner of Plk. Velebnovského Street and Mariánské náměstí in Jablunkov. The house is one of the oldest masonry buildings in this part of the former Těšín Principality (Těšínské knížectví). Its name refers to the fact that in the second half of the 16th century it became the property of the Piast princes of Těšín.

The building was bought in 2018 from the town of Jablunkov by the Moravian-Silesian Region, the founder of the Muzeum Těšínska (Museum of the Těšín Region). After alterations, the Muzeum Trojmezí (Tripoint Museum) opened here in summer 2022 as a branch of the Muzeum Těšínska, with the permanent exhibition Krajina a lidé (Landscape and People).

The exhibition presents the centuries-long coexistence of nature and people in the easternmost area of the Czech Republic, at the border with Poland and Slovakia. It introduces the original natural environment, nature and landscape protection, the Wallachian and clearing-based colonisation of the Silesian part of the Beskydy, and the history and traditions of Jablunkov, as well as the past of the house itself. In addition to classic exhibits, it uses modern audiovisual elements; the building also has space for changing exhibitions and work with the public.
