About the museum
Bunker N-S 81 “Lom” was built in 1938 as a separate double-sided infantry bunker of the Náchod section of the Czechoslovak fortifications. It has two floors, an upper combat floor and a lower rear floor, and stands close to the Dobrošov artillery fortress. Two four-embrasure armoured bells for a light machine gun, made in Vítkovice, were torn out during the occupation.
During the reconstruction at the end of the 1990s, the club members decided only to remove the dangerous remains of concrete from the shattered walls and to leave the walls otherwise unaltered, as evidence of the damage done by the German occupation authorities. Camouflage plaster from 1938, hooks for camouflage nets and the diamond ditches (diamantové příkopy) in front of the embrasures are still visible today; the ditches protected the embrasures from being filled in and served as pits for empty cartridge cases.
Today the Klub vojenské historie Náchod (Military History Club Náchod) runs a museum exhibition in the bunker on the construction and equipment of the fortifications and on the army of the First Republic. Many period photographs and three-dimensional exhibits are complemented by a thirteen-minute video programme. The bunker belongs to the Běloves fortress open-air site together with the Březinka and Voda objects.
