About the museum

The R-S 87 “Průsek” infantry bunker belongs to the Říčky sub-section of the Czechoslovak border fortifications of 1937–1938, which were to protect the frontier against Nazi Germany. Concrete was poured into its walls from 6 to 11 August 1937, and the armoured bells were installed in June 1938. It is an isolated infantry bunker of the second degree of resistance, standing on the main ridge of the Orlické hory between the R-S 86 and R-S 88 objects. It is protected as a cultural monument.

The bunker retained its original armoured bell and other armoured elements, which is rare in the area. It was to be equipped with almost all the types of weapons used on the fortification line: a twin machine gun and an anti-tank gun aimed at the Hanička fortress, and on the left side an embrasure for a 9 cm mortar, which was to cover the observation post on Komáří vrch and the road over the Mezivrší saddle.

The bunker was repaired and opened to the public by the Klub vojenského opevnění Hradec Králové from its own resources, sponsorship contributions and voluntary admission fees. Inside are original or replica weapons and period equipment of the Czechoslovak army.
