About the museum

The museum was established after 1989 in the family farmstead of the Kopeček couple in Příložany. The state returned the farm to them through restitution, and František Kopeček wanted to keep the house as it was when he farmed there with his parents. Gradually, objects that people from the area found at home and donated to the museum were added to the original items.

Today the collection numbers about a thousand objects from the region and from abroad, mostly from the first half of the 20th century. It documents village life and agricultural work up to around 1950. Visitors will see agricultural machines and tools, equipment for processing milk and butter, the furnishings of a farmhouse, carriages and the tools of craftsmen such as the cooper, the shoemaker or the wheelwright. The newest addition is a farmer's bedroom.

Every tour is guided: the owners explain the exhibits and demonstrate how they were used. The museum is supported by the town of Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou and is part of the Network of Agricultural Museums, which also includes the Národní zemědělské muzeum (National Agricultural Museum).
