About the museum
The farmstead at Lešná is recorded as a freehold estate as early as 1355, and from 1415 a fortified house surrounded by a moat is documented. Around 1600 it was rebuilt as a late Renaissance castle, and in the 18th century Baroque alterations were added. In 1887 (according to another source 1888) the estate was bought by the Kinsky family, who gave the castle its Neoclassical character with Neo-Gothic details.
After 1945 the Kinsky family was expropriated, and from 1948 the building served as a school for almost thirty years. The Valašsko Regional Museum took over the castle and park in 1975, restoration began in 1983, and the interiors were opened to the public in November 2011. The English landscape park from the mid-19th century was restored from the 1980s and opened to the public on 1 October 2000.
Visitors can see historic interiors with a painted ceiling, an original Baroque floor and furniture from the Kinsky period around 1900. On the second floor there is a historical exhibition on the castle's history and its owners; since 2024 a lift has served that floor. The park is open daily, and seasonal events take place there. For children there is a playroom in the castle.
