About the museum
The museum is located at the Kurgja-Linnutaja farm in North Pärnu County and is dedicated to Carl Robert Jakobson (1841–1882), one of the leaders of the Estonian national awakening, farmer and politician. The farm is still working and shows 19th-century animal husbandry and farming.
Visitors see farm animals, including cattle, sheep and horses, and restored historic farm buildings. In the renovated manor house there is a new interactive exhibition on Jakobson’s life and activities. The Rehetoa café serves Estonian dishes, mostly made from raw materials grown on the farm.
On the farm you can take part in cookery lessons, craft workshops, farm and garden work, and rural-life events and festivals. The museum is close to Soomaa National Park and belongs to the network of Estonian rural museums.
