About the museum
The history of the Sooääre farm goes back at least 200 years. The oldest part of the threshing-barn dwelling is a threshing room with an earth floor from the first half of the 19th century, where people lived and grain was dried in the autumn; the living room with chambers was built in the second half of the 19th century. The museum complex also includes the smoke sauna, the paargu (summer kitchen), a barn, a cellar, a cart shed and a dining house (former cowshed), as well as an old log well. The museum is run by the Palade Loodushariduskeskus (Palade Nature Education Centre).
