About the museum
The Ahlfors Gunsmith's Workshop is located in the village of Herttua in Hämeenkyrö, on Trossitie. A smithy operated on the farm called Seppä for three generations, from the late 19th century to the 1960s. The last smith who did actual gunsmithing in the workshop was Väinö Ahlfors (d. 1969).
The workshop has been preserved in the condition it was left in during the 1960s, so in principle it is still operational. The gunsmith's residential building is in the same yard. Visitors get to know both the workshop and the residential building on a guided tour, and groups can order a guided tour of their own. The museum is run by the Municipality of Hämeenkyrö.
