About the museum

Björkboda Låsmuseum is a cultural-historical museum that shows the history of lock manufacturing in Björkboda. The museum opened in 1979 in a former workers’ dwelling from the 1840s. It holds a large collection of locks and fittings, and also a workers’ dwelling furnished in 1970s style.

Björkboda has an old iron industry: the first bar-iron hammer was built here in 1732. Both Björkboda and Dalsbruk have been owned by the ironmaster families Hising, af Petersén and Ramsay. The museum also sells products connected with Björkboda and the lock museum.
