About the museum
Söderlångviks museum is an art and biographical museum on Kimitoön, located in the main building of Söderlångvik farm, which was the summer residence of cultural patron Amos Anderson (1878–1961). The museum opened to the public in 1965 at Amos Anderson’s wish. The house was thoroughly renovated in 2018–2021, and its interiors regained their original, restrained appearance from the 1930s.
The furnishings are mostly classical, with both antique furniture and reproduction period furniture. Most of Amos Anderson’s library is kept here. In the entrance hall visitors meet Juho Rissanen’s Bretagne Madonna; the billiard room is dominated by a seating group that was originally intended for Finland’s first king; the large dining room is set up for 30 dinner guests, and in the basement there is a small private cinema. The basic exhibition consists of art from Amos Anderson’s foundation collections, mainly Finnish art from 1900 to 1950. Outside the museum, four caryatids from the original 1866 facade of the Svenska Teatern (Swedish Theatre) decorate Amos Anderson’s garage.
The park was planned in the 1930s by Paul Olsson and regained its former splendour during the renovation of 2019–2021. In addition to the park and the hiking trails, the sculpture park with Kim Simonsson’s Mossjättar (Moss Giants) is always open to visitors, all year round. The farm also has a restaurant, a farm shop, apple orchards and accommodation.

The door opening is over 85 cm wide. The museum has two floors connected by a lift, but the lift does not fully meet accessibility requirements (door width 72 cm). The paths are level, at least 120 cm wide, with thresholds under 20 mm. Wheelchairs can be borrowed, and there are no induction loops. There are two accessible toilets, by the restaurant and by the car park. One accessible parking space is marked with the wheelchair symbol, and door-to-door transport (färdtjänst) can stop directly at the museum entrance. Assistance dogs and guide dogs are welcome.
