About the museum
Kangaslammin koti- ja koulumuseo is a local museum in the village centre of Kangaslampi parish. It is maintained by the Kangaslampi village association, Kangaslampi-Seura ry. Viewing the collections is free of charge, and a small café operates at the museum in the summer.
The museum building was completed at the turn of the 1800s and 1900s. The building has previously housed, among other things, Adolf Markkanen’s shop, a café, a dairy, a police officer’s residence and the municipal office.
Kangaslampi was an independent municipality from 1869, and in 2005 it was merged into Varkaus.
