About the museum
The Keikyän kotiseutumuseo is located in Kiviniemi in Keikyä, Sastamala, at the end of a birch avenue. The birches were planted in January 1925 by the master of the Uotila farm, who fetched the saplings from a bog area. The museum is run by Keikyän Museo- ja Kotiseutuyhdistys ry.
The museum grounds have three buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. The collection comprises about 3,500 objects as well as about a thousand photographs and documents. The objects tell of traditional craft trades and agriculture: the exhibits cover construction, carpentry, shoemaking, and the making of rubber balls, bags, combs, thread buttons, pipes and bricks. The exhibition also presents spinning and weaving. The very dilapidated roof of the Pyting building was renewed in 2026.
