About the museum
The Kokemäki open-air museum brings together 15 traditional Satakunta buildings, which were moved to the site in 1962–1963. The museum area is located near the town centre along Kauvatsantie.
The most important building in the area is the main building of the Yli-Pälpälä farm, built in the 1790s in the village of Pälpälä. It contains a pirtti (main room), two chambers (kamari), a porstua (entrance hall) and a pakari (storeroom), and its furnishings follow 19th-century style.
Other buildings include traditional Satakunta storehouses (aitat), a smoke sauna, a smithy (paja), an old charcoal burner’s rest cabin and a Swedish-style storehouse.
