About the museum
Sculptor Laila Pullinen (1933–2015) moved with her family in 1981 to the family farm of her husband, Carl-Magnus Ramsay, at Nissbacka in Vantaa. She wanted to protect the culturally valuable manor environment with its old hardwood trees and outbuildings, and for this reason she brought her own sculptural art to the area. A sculpture park came into being, which she herself called a total work of art (kokonaistaideteos).
The home museum, permanently opened to the public in 2021, presents the artist's home as it was during her lifetime. The building, dating from 1925, was originally the estate manager's house and became the main building after the manor house burned in 1934. The personal objects and art collection are still in place, and the walls also hold naive paintings by Pullinen's mother, Tyyni Pullinen.
The museum complex includes the outdoor sculpture park, the basic collection in the granary (makasiini), the changing exhibition of the Ateljee gallery, and the home museum. Pullinen's sculptures are mainly bronze and stone, and they are placed to engage in dialogue with the manor's nature and history.
