About the museum
The Oulunsalo local heritage museum is located in the Oulunsalo district next to the church, and it belongs to the open-air museum sites of the Oulun museo- ja tiedekeskus (Oulu Museum and Science Centre). The museum presents life and work in the countryside in the early 20th century.
The collection includes almost all the tools, textiles and vessels that a farmhouse needed at that time. The fishing tradition is still visible on the museum grounds. The museum also displays the weathervane and a door hinge from the famous Uhri church of Oulunsalo (uhrikirkko).
The museum is open in summer, and a guide is present during opening hours. Admission to the museum is free.
