About the museum

Tiima is a museum and science centre at Myllytulli in Oulu, which opened in autumn 2026. Under one roof are the VISIO experience space, the Tietomaa science centre, the Oulu Museum and the Children's Museum, and with one ticket visitors can explore ten different experiences. The centre combines science, art and history for families, school pupils and travellers.

The building consists of a new wing and the protected main building of Tietomaa, the former leather factory of Veljekset Åström Oy. Renovation and extension of the building began in spring 2024. The factory's old water tower now serves as a viewing tower, and the courtyard has the Seikkailutehdas outdoor play area, where visitors can learn about the factory machinery.

The exhibitions cover, among other things, Oulu's many-layered history (Oulu: Tarinani), the birth of northern metal music (Metallikausi) and the northern lights (Aurora Revelare). Masiina takes visitors to an imaginary past of steam engines, Eläinten jäljillä explores nature and Värkkäämö shows how science is made. The Children's Museum exhibition Polkuja kaupungissa is aimed at younger visitors.
