About the museum
The Panimomuseo is run by the non-profit OLVI Foundation, and it is said to be the only publicly accessible brewery museum in Finland. The museum is located in Iisalmi, in connection with the Olvi Beer Hall on the shore of Lake Porovesi, next to the Olvi Oyj brewery. Olvi was founded in 1878 by W. G. and Onni Åberg and is the last independent Finnish brewery from the period when the country had 78 breweries. The fifth generation of the Åberg-Hortling brewing family still works in the company.
The permanent exhibition presents beer brewing and brewery objects from the 19th and 20th centuries. The exhibitions also tell the story of the Åberg-Hortling family. In the Olvin henki (Spirit of Olvi) experience room, the Olvi 145 history story and the OLVI Foundation 70 story are presented, along with an old-time office, a laboratory and an atmosphere room of the advertising world of the past.
The audiovisual brewery tour takes visitors to Olvi’s modern brewery and describes the company’s commitment to the circular economy, sustainable development and high-quality brewing.
