About the museum
Collecting of museum objects began in Pelkosenniemi in the 1980s. The museum opened in summer 1992 and operates in the storehouse of the former rectory's yard, behind the church, in the centre of the church village.
The museum's collection includes objects related to local livelihoods, forest work and housing. The traditional log church built in 1920 survived the destruction of the Lapland War and stands next to the museum.
