About the museum
The fortified area of Joutsijärvi is the northernmost bunker area of the Salpa Line. The Salpa Line was a defence line built on Finland's eastern border, which came into being in the period between the Winter War and the Continuation War. There are five concrete bunkers in Joutsijärvi, some of which have been restored.
One of the bunkers has been restored as a bunker museum, which is open to the public. Inside there is a photo exhibition on the building of the Salpa Line, as well as wartime objects found in the surroundings.
Nearby are the Hunajalampi wilderness cabin and a nature trail that tells of the area's war history.
