About the museum

The association ÉbulliScience was founded in 1998 with the aim of developing scientific and technical culture among the general public. It is part of the Association des Musées et Centres pour le développement de la Culture Scientifique, Technique et Industrielle (AMCSTI).

The Salle de Découvertes Scientifiques in Vaulx-en-Velin was inaugurated in 1999 by Nobel Prize-winning physicist Georges Charpak, with the support of the La main à la pâte Foundation. It remains the heart of the association’s science outreach.

In this 300 m² room, visitors are invited to act like researchers: observe experiments, form hypotheses, test them through hands-on manipulation, and then share their conclusions. The experiments are validated by a scientific council of fifteen personalities, including members of the Académie des sciences, the CNRS, the INSA and the Université de Lyon.

The association also runs travelling workshops, holiday centres, adult training and the BAFA (youth leader training), and reaches almost 19,000 people each year in Greater Lyon and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
