About the museum

Le Naturoptère is a cultural and educational center devoted to living nature and biodiversity, located in Sérignan-du-Comtat. Since 2017 it has been run by the Université Populaire Ventoux, which also operates it as an inclusive business.

The site offers permanent exhibitions over about 250 m², teaching gardens (a semi-natural garden of textile, dye, aromatic, medicinal and perfume plants, a children’s garden, an edible forest and a lasagna garden bed) and a green roof. Workshops for families and schools, nature walks, shows and lectures complete the offer.

Le Naturoptère stands opposite the Harmas de Jean-Henri Fabre, the home of a 19th-century naturalist, managed by the National Museum of Natural History (Muséum national d’histoire naturelle) and listed as a historic monument since 1998. A single ticket gives access to both sites.

Highlights

  • Three permanent exhibitions on living things, the home and the forest
  • Teaching gardens: useful plants, edible forest, children’s garden
  • Combined ticket with the Harmas de Jean-Henri Fabre, across the road
  • Short free “pilules de savoir” (knowledge pills) presentations during the visit
  • Workshops for families, school groups and birthdays
