About the museum
The Musée de la vallée d'Aure is an ethnographic ecomuseum in Ancizan, in the Hautes-Pyrénées. Its purpose is to present evidence of rural life and crafts in the valley over past centuries, and to keep alive the collective memory of the valley's people and their know-how.
The route is designed as a musical stroll and unfolds across sixteen life-size scenes, with everyday objects, tools for various trades, costumes, and objects linked to festivals and music. The visit is accompanied by sound and includes several educational features; questionnaires are available for children.
The museum also has a room for themed exhibitions and a shop. It is next to the Musée de la Cidrerie d'Ancizan.
