About the museum
The Musée du Bord de Mer in Bénodet is devoted to recreational boating (belle plaisance) and the birth of seaside tourism. Its permanent exhibition recreates, in an early 20th-century setting, a whole way of life by the sea.
Visitors discover a 1930s beach, a seaside bathing hotel, films, period photographs, model boats, scale models and beach toys, which evoke seaside leisure like a book of memories.
Every year, local artists exhibit works on the theme of the sea on the ground floor of the museum.
