About the museum

The Nuits-Saint-Georges museum was founded in 1975. It occupies a former wine merchant's house on Rue Camille Rodier and displays its collections in large vaulted cellars. It is run by the town.

The route is devoted to the archaeology of the area. The Gallo-Roman room shows a large part of the objects found at the Les Bolards site, an ancient settlement occupied from the 1st century BC to the mid-5th century AD. The museum also displays objects from excavations carried out in the Nuits canton, including remarkable Merovingian finds.

On the upper floor, a temporary exhibition changes every year and highlights an aspect of regional heritage. The museum also offers guided tours, family activities and programmes for schools.
