About the museum

In March 1996, while surveying the outcrops of the Mèze plain, Alain Cabot discovered a very important site of dinosaur eggs, with many nests still in place belonging to several species. The rocks date from the late Cretaceous, about 70 million years ago, and link the deposits of Provence with those of the Pyrenees.

The museum park was set up on this site. Visitors walk over a site where excavations are still ongoing, and about 80% of the fossils in the display cases are originals. The site includes a 25 m long brachiosaurus. In July 2004, an area on the origins and evolution of humans was added to the route, which now runs from the dinosaurs to Homo sapiens.

The museum also announces a recent find: more than a hundred dinosaur eggs have been uncovered on the site.
