About the museum
The foundation of the collection was laid by Schramberg entrepreneur Hans-Jochem Steim, longtime head of the spring manufacturer Kern-Liebers, when he acquired a 1928 Ford A over four decades ago. Vehicles from numerous manufacturers were gradually added; his son Hannes Steim expanded the holdings with youngtimers and American cars.
To show the cars to the public, the family established the Dr.-Ing. Hans-Jochem-Steim Foundation in 2005. On the former Kern-Liebers factory site in the center of Schramberg, a red-and-gray new building with two exhibition levels and around 3,000 square meters of space was built, opening in May 2007.
Around 130 vehicles from the family and private lenders are on display, from pioneering cars such as a 1902 De Dion-Bouton and luxury cars of the interwar period to models of the 1990s. Since 2010, the collection has formed the “Auto & Uhrenwelt Schramberg” together with the car and watch museum ErfinderZeiten, the Dieselmuseum and the Eisenbahnmuseum Schwarzwald.
