About the museum
The permanent exhibition is housed in the former Jewish community house on Promenadestraße and was designed by teachers and students of the Jack-Steinberger-Gymnasium. It traces the arc from the beginnings of Jewish life in Bad Kissingen in the 13th century to the present day.
It presents the community's most important institutions, such as synagogues, associations and cemeteries, as well as growing antisemitism in the imperial era and the Weimar Republic and the exclusion, expulsion and persecution during the Nazi period. The focus is on the fates of individual Jewish families; numerous Judaica illustrate religious life. In the basement, the former mikveh, the ritual bath, and a reconstructed sukkah can be seen.
