About the museum
The town of Wolfstein set up the printing museum so that the history of printing would not be forgotten. It is located in the town hall on Rathausplatz and now belongs to the museum offerings of the Verbandsgemeinde Lauterecken-Wolfstein (joint municipality).
The collection documents an old newspaper print shop. On display are a high-speed cylinder press with a line-casting machine and casting unit, the platen press "Tiegel-Regina" with its transmission (drive shaft), a hand press, a book press, and type shelves with large and small type cases. Also present are paper and cardboard cutting machines, stapling, punching, and perforating machines, old printing templates and typefaces, and historical typewriters. An archive commemorates the Kuseler Zeitung since 1902.
A second section is devoted to musical instrument making: under the title "Von Blech bis Tuba" ("From Sheet Metal to Tuba"), a workshop shows original tools and brass instruments made by the instrument maker Sander. The museum is visited by appointment.
