About the museum
The fire brigade museum of the town of Roding belongs to the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Roding-Stadt and is located at Ziehringer Weg 1. Across two floors it shows what fire protection was like from about 1860 to the 1950s, when horse-drawn hand-operated pumps still travelled the streets.
Over 250 exhibits can be seen: historic fire equipment, uniforms and documents. The large appliances include a ten-seat hand-operated pump from 1922, known as the "Maschine Imhof", and a tanker fire engine from 1953 on a Mercedes chassis. On the ground floor there are also several two-wheeled motor pump trailers, including loans from neighboring fire brigades, a powder extinguishing trailer from 1973 and an extension ladder from 1907.
