About the museum
The Fischerstube local history museum was set up in Mönkebude in 1996. Its focus is on relics of fishing and shipping: fishing gear such as traps, netting and eel spears, as well as objects around the fishing boat and its equipment. All exhibits have a close connection to the village's fishermen and boatmen and their families.
The house also presents the village's history: Mönkebude is first mentioned in 1244 as a Slavic settlement under the name Doblowitz. Photos and facts document its later development into a resort. The Fischerstube thus brings together much of what has shaped life in the village and the region.
The museum is run by the Mönkebude tourism operator. It was last renovated in 2018.
